Update 2.12 for the Treo 680

Download & Install: Windows XP, 2000

  1. Download: Treo680_2_12_ROW_desktopupdater.zip (23.3MB zip file)
You must use a desktop PC and a USB sync cable to install this update; it cannot be installed wirelessly
  2. Decompress the downloaded file to a temporary folder, using one of these decompression utilities: WinZip, StuffIt, PKZIP, or Windows default.
  3. You'll see a folder named "Treo680_2_12_ROW_desktopupdater." Open this folder.

    Double-click the installer file: "Treo680_2_12_ROW_desktopupdater.exe"
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to update your Treo 680, including synchronisation to back up your data on your Windows computer.

Your smartphone will soft reset itself several times throughout the process, and the Palm logo will appear onscreen periodically.

Do not disconnect your smartphone from the sync cable or the charger during the update process.

The process should take about 10 to 30 minutes.
  5. This is the final screen of the update process. Ensure the charger is still plugged into your Treo 680.

Allow the unit to update and soft reset until the language selection screen ("Press Center button for English) appears. Press Center to select English.

The smartphone will then reset again, and the Palm logo will appear.

Then you'll see "Use stylus to tap center of target". Go through this process to calibrate the touchscreen.
  6. Your Treo 680 is now updated.

The desktop installer will restore the backed up data to your smartphone.
