How to install

The SMS Software Update can be downloaded over-the-air to your smartphone and installed immediately. Or, if you prefer, you can download the Palm application to your PC or Mac and then sync it to your smartphone:

If you're reading this on your Treo 650 smartphone (over-the-air installation):

1. When you click on the download link below, installation will begin. But first, read these instructions and make sure you understand them.
2. After you click the download link, you'll be asked where to save the file. Select Save To: Applications. Then select Save. When asked if you want to accept "TreoSMSLib.prc" into Applications, select Yes.
3. When asked if you want to replace the existing TreoSMSLibrary with the one you are about to receive, select Yes.
4. Once the application is installed, perform a soft reset on your smartphone.

If you're reading this on a PC or Mac (download and HotSync installation):

1. Download the installer to your PC or Mac (see below).
2. Double-click the file you downloaded; the Palm Install Tool will appear. If asked, select your Treo 650 smartphone's user name.
3. Perform a HotSync operation to move the file to your smartphone.
4. Once installed, soft reset your smartphone.

 

Download

Your smartphone may not need this software. Here's how to find out:

1. Press Phone/Send
2. Press Menu
3. From the Options menu, select Phone Info (/I).
4. If the update was successful, the Software version number will be Treo650-1.20-LAP.

You need this update if you see the following: Treo650-1.20-LAP. If you do not see Treo650-1.20-LAP, you should not install this software.
