Sync with an existing desktop organizer by passing through a web account

Deutsch Español Français

If you want to continue using your current desktop organizer and sync with it over the air, you may be able to do it through third-party software, using Google as the go-between.

How does this work?

Third-party companies offer software that moves your desktop organizer's Calendar/Contacts into a web account. Two-way synchronization keeps your info up to date in your desktop organizer, and in the web account.

You can add the web account to your phone, and keep all three places in sync (desktop organizer, web account, phone). This means you can sync over the air, anywhere you have an Internet connection.

Passing through Google

With these solutions, Google is the connection between your desktop organizer and your phone. You can continue to view & edit Calendar/Contacts in your desktop organizer without using Google's interface, or you can do it in Google, or you can do it on your phone.

On your computer, set up an account on the Google website. First create an account at google.com. Then activate the calendar feature: go to google.com/calendar, and follow the steps until you see your calendar. Google contacts and mail are also set up when you do this.

After creating the Google account, add it to your phone. This ensures that your info moves correctly to the account.

  1. On your webOS device, open Contacts .
  2. Open the application menu and tap Preferences & Accounts.
  3. Tap Add Another Account or Add an Account.

If the new account includes other services, your phone will set them up automatically. How does this work?
