Move Calendar and Contacts to a synchronized online account

If your data lives in a desktop organizer, we can help you export it from there, import it into a online account, and add the account to your device.

Note: After moving your data to the online account, you no longer sync with your old desktop application. Instead, your device synchronizes with the online account.
Warning: Google Contacts only supports importing 3000 items at a time. If you have more than that, and if you choose Google as your online account, divide the CSV file into several files with 3000 contacts each before proceeding.

Decide where you want to move your Calendar and Contacts

Export to the format used by the online account you chose. The help system for your old desktop organizer may tell you how to export Calendar/Contacts into the format needed. Check the desktop organizer's user guide or support website for more information, or contact the manufacturer directly.

Can't export to any of the supported formats?

Instead of exporting and importing your Calendar/Contacts as a file, use the desktop interface of your new online account to manually create copies the items you care about most.

  1. Set up a new online account (see: Create an account for the web service you chose).
  2. Open your old desktop organizer.
  3. Log into your new online account on a desktop computer.
  4. One by one, create a new Calendar/Contact item in the online account and copy the details from your desktop organizer.
  5. Add the online account to your device. 5: Set up HP Synergy on your device.

Create an account for the web service you chose

Skip this step if you already have an online account where you want to move the info from your old desktop organizer.

Google
First create an account at google.com. Then activate the calendar feature: go to google.com/calendar, and follow the steps until you see your calendar. Google contacts and mail are also set up when you do this.
Yahoo! Calendar & Contacts

Contacts are transferred from Yahoo.com to the device, but not from device to Yahoo!

  1. Go to Yahoo.com: Sign up for Yahoo! and create a new account.
Microsoft Exchange for corporate users

Ask your IT Helpdesk for these four pieces of information.

  • Incoming mail server name
  • Domain name (if it's different from your incoming mail server name)
  • Exchange username
  • Exchange password

Import your Calendar/Contacts

See these pages to learn how to bring your info to your new online account:

Set up HP Synergy on your device

The next part is easy: simply add the online account to your device.

  1. On your webOS device, open Contacts .
  2. Open the application menu and tap Preferences & Accounts.
  3. Tap Add Another Account or Add an Account.

If the new account includes other services, your phone will set them up automatically. How does this work?
